This exceptional lot features the actual true rookie card of the revered and enigmatic baseball legend "Shoeless Joe" Jackson. This stunning 1909-11 American Caramel E90-1 card has stood the test of time and remains in VG condition and is professionally graded an SGC 40. Jackson is pictured on this card with the Philadelphia Athletics where he played in 1908 and 1909 before going on to play with Cleveland (1910-15) and eventually the White Sox (1915-20). Although this card has been graded in VG condition due to corner wear that is expected of a card that has been in existence for over 100 years, it features a few incredible high end qualities that make it aesthetically pleasing to the eye and worthy of cards in NM-NM+ condition. The card has a "pack fresh" quality about it in that it features sharp, bold colors, crystal clear picture quality as well as eye popping fresh white borders. The back of the card is also very clean and white. the only real flaw to this card, other than corner wear from age, is a small faint stain in the lower right corner on back. No creases on this cardboard treasure that is a prime candidate to be re-submitted for grading considerations. Other samples that have recently sold include: PSA 3.5 for $26,290 in October 2008, a PSA 3.5 for $23,500 in April 2009, an EX 5 for $44,000 in April 2010 and a PSA 5.5 for $79,068 in March 2009. There are very few copies of this "Shoeless Joe" rookie left in existence and this visually appealing sample ranks among the best.
