This lot features a highly desirable Ryne Sandberg 1982 Chicago Cubs game used and autographed rookie glove. This rare Rawlings PRO-2-P-C fielders' glove exhibits light to moderate overall use with "SANDBERG" written on the outside pinky sleeve in faded black marker. Sandberg has signed the inside pocket of the glove. This "Heart of the Hide" gamer measures 12.25 inches. This is longer than the glove he typically used to play second base with the Cubs, but this was due to the fact that he played third base for the Cubs for the majority of his rookie season. Ryno played 133 games at third base and 24 games at second base during his rookie campaign in which he finished 6th in the ROY balloting. Accompanied by a PSA/DNA John Taube & Dennis Eskin Letter of Authenticity for the game used portion of the glove and a JSA/James Spence Authentication Letter of Authenticity for the Sandberg signature.
