Offered in this lot is one of, if not the most, sought after football card sets in existence. The 1955 Topps All American football card set was ahead of its time. The cards carry great eye appeal with the black and white action images in the background, the up close color images and both the All American logos and college team insignia. The challenge with this set lies in the fact that the cards are very difficult as it pertains to centering. The large majority of the cards were off center right off the presses. What makes this set quite intriguing is that it was collected over time with great attention to care and detail. The organizer of this set had a nice eye and chose the cards carefully and, as a result, we have a tremendously attractive and visually appealing set. The set consists of 100 cards and features some of the best football players of all time. Some of the more expensive cards in the set have been submitted to PSA for grading. The graded cards include: Knute Rockne PSA 5, Sammy Baugh PSA 6.5, Jim Thorpe PSA 4, The Four Horsemen PSA 6, Sid Luckman PSA 6.5, Beattie Feathers PSA 6 and Don Hutson PSA 5. These cards are very representative of the set quality as a whole in that most fall into the EX-MT range and the large majority are very well centered which makes this a true collectible treasure. Other highlights of this set include: Niles Kinnick, Bill Dudley, Otto Graham, Bruce Smith, Red Grange, Mel Hein, Leo Nomellini, Davey O'Brien, Tom Harmon, Amos Alonzo Stagg, Johnny Lujack, Ernie Nevers, Jay Berwanger, Alex Wojciechowicz, Ace Parker and Fats Henry.
