This lot features a stunningly attractive Super Bowl IX Vince Lombardi Trophy. This Super Bowl pitted the Pittsburgh Steeler vs Minnesota Vikings. This would be the first of 6 Super Bowl Championships for the Steelers as their defense dominated that day in a 16-6 Steelers victory. This trophy is not the same one given to the team and players. It is comprised of steel, brass, nickel and aluminum rather than the $30,000++ sterling silver trophies made by Tiffany Co. given to the teams. It is however the same size, standing 21 inches and weighing in at 7 pounds. The trophy has the NFL shield embossed and reads: "Vince Lombardi Trophy, Super Bowl IX AFC vs NFC, January 12, 1975, Pittsburgh Steelers 16 Minnesota Vikings 6, Tulane Stadium New Orleans, Louisiana". This trophy would look majestic displayed in any office or mantle and would be a great conversation piece.
