This lot features the highly coveted 2001 New England Patriots Super Bowl XXXVI Championship Ring. It is stunning, made from 14k White Gold and weighing a whopping 72 grams with over 2.5 karats among its 42 diamonds (paying tribute to the Patriots 42nd year in existence). At size 13, this beauty is a showstopper with scores of intrinsic value due to the gold and diamond content. The ring was awarded to lineman Jones and made by Jostens with the appropriate 14k markings inside. The reason this ring is so coveted by collectors is that it was Tom Brady’s 1st Super Bowl win as the Pats upset the heavily favored Rams 20-17 in a walk-off win. It was an improbable end to an amazing season for the Patriots and their fans. The Pats overcame an 0-2 start to the season as well as the loss of their star QB, Drew Bledsoe, to injury. That's when a 2nd year QB and 6th round draft pick out of Michigan named Tom Brady entered the line-up and the rest is history. Player rings from this memorable season rarely become available. There are certain rings that create a frenzy of excitement when they are made available to the general public and collectors move mountains to acquire them. This is one of those rings. A must have treasure for any Patriots or ring collector.
