This lot features 26 signed Senators photos. These autographed items were obtained between 1980-2003 as part of a middle school social studies project. Teacher Doug Iscovitz and his class would write to various interesting/famous people throughout the United States and many of them responded by sending back signed photos and letters, among other things. The vast majority signed these items themselves. On rare occasions, they would send stamped (or secretarial signed) items, but the vast majority signed these items themselves and many even added a special note or inscription. They were very receptive to responding since the request originated from inquiring school children and the requests were received on school stationary. Accompanied by a detailed Letter of Provenance as to how the items were procured. Notable signatures include: Robert Byrd of West Virginia, John Chafee of Rhode Island, Dick Clark of Iowa, Dan Coats of Indiana, William Cohen of Maine (2), Kent Conrad of North Dakota, Larry Craig of Idaho, Alan Cranston of California, Al Damato of New York, Alan Cranston of California, John Danforth of Missouri, Tom Daschle of South Dakota, Mike DeWine of Ohio, Jeremiah Denton of Alabama, Christopher Dodd of Connecticut, Bob Dole of Kansas, Peter Dominici of New Mexico (2), Byron Dorgan of North Dakota, Lauch Faircloth of North Carolina, Hiram Fong of Hawaii, Wendell Ford of Kentucky, Wyche Fowler of Georgia, Bill First of Tennessee, J. William Fulbright of Arkansas, and Jake Garn of Utah (he was the first sitting member of Congress to fly in space when he flew aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery).
