This lot features a rare and coveted Walter Payton c. 1984-87 Chicago Bears game issued road white jersey. This size 44 white mesh jersey was manufactured by Wilson and features Payton’s number “34” screen-printed in navy blue and orange on the front, back and sleeves. “PAYTON” is screen-printed in navy blue and orange on a matching white mesh nameplate on the back of the jersey. The sleeves have blue and orange stripes screen-printed with “GSH” printed on the orange stripe of the left sleeve that honor the late George S. Halas. The jersey has minimal overall wear and does not exhibit obvious signs of game use. The Wilson tag is sewn on the bottom front left tail. "Sweetness" played 13 seasons entirely with the Chicago Bears and would only miss a single game. When he retired in 1987 he held the career record for rushing yards, carries, all-purpose yards, touchdowns and to many more to list. Payton would also be elected into the Football Hall of Fame in 1993. The jersey has been authenticated and graded an A5 by MEARS.
