This lot features a Roberto Clemente 1965-68 Louisville Slugger signature model U1 bat exhibiting optimal use. The bat measures 36 inches, weighs 36.5 ounces and shows outstanding use with numerous ball marks, ball stitch impressions, bat rack marks and a light coat of pine tar. Clemente's #21 is written on the knob and barrel end in faded black marker. The U1 model was a staple of Clemente's and his H&B personal bat ordering records verify that he ordered this bat repeatedly throughout the entire 1965-68 era. High end Clemente bats are elusive for 3,000 Hit Club and vintage bat collectors. This is one that you won't want to let pass as it has earned a near perfect 9.5 grade from PSA/DNA and is the ideal Clemente bat from the prime of his career. Also accompanied by a detail Letter of Provenance from the gentleman who acquired the bat directly from Roberto Clemente himself during the summer of 1968.
