This lot features a Harmon Killebrew c. 1965-68 Minnesota Twins game used bat professionally authenticated and graded a PSA/DNA GU 8.5. Hillerich & Bradsby model S207 Harmon Killebrew professional model bat exhibits evidence of outstanding use with a crack on the lower handle and knob. 1 1/2 inches of the bat's length has been removed from the top barrel. Some checking (grain swelling) from repeated ball contact is on the back barrel with a sliver missing from the checking. Many ball marks and ball stitch impressions are visible on the left, front and back barrel. Cleat marks can be seen on the right and back barrel. Also visible on the bat are green bat rack streaks and there is a heavy coat of pine tar on the handle. The model number (S207) is stamped into the knob. Killebrew's number (3) and the weight, partially obscured by pine tar, are written on the knob in black marker. An inch and a half have been removed from the top barrel. This type of modification, while not common, has been logged in our PSA database. A key example is an autographed Jackie Robinson Bat (PSA #1B02989), from the Dodgers 1955 World Championship season. The bat displays excellent Killebrew characteristics which include pine tar application, player number and weight written on the knob in marker. Harmon Killebrew game used bats have become increasingly difficult to find, even tougher to find in this high grade.
