This lot features an exceedingly rare Charles Comiskey 1888 Scrapps tobacco card. Comiskey was the founding owner of the Chicago White Sox as well as a key player in the formation of the American League. The White Sox's storied baseball stadium was built under his guidance and named after him. Issued in 1888, the exact origin of these immensely detailed die cut cards has been debated over the years and seems to have been that the cards were issued in their die cut fashion as some part of a book. When punched out, each of the players appear as a figure onto its own with a detailed outline of the player. This treasure remains in nice overall condition, was originally acquired through an eBay transaction and thus passed through eBay's authentication process.
