This lot features a 1983 Carl Yastrzemski Boston Red Sox game model jersey. The jersey has the Wilson size 42 tag sewn into the collar. This jersey was acquired by our consignor directly from a Wilson jersey representative back in 1983 and has remained in his possession until now. Great jersey to have signed by the player to create a very unique collectible. Carl Yastrzemski is a former professional baseball player who spent his entire 23-year career with the Boston Red Sox. He was known for his powerful hitting, outstanding defensive skills, and strong work ethic. Yastrzemski won three batting titles during his career and finished with a lifetime batting average of .285. He was also a 19-time All-Star, a seven-time Gold Glove winner, and a one-time American League MVP. In 1967, he led the Red Sox to the American League pennant and won the Triple Crown, becoming the first player to accomplish the feat since 1947. Yastrzemski was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989, and his number 8 was retired by the Red Sox in 1989 as well. He remains one of the most beloved and iconic figures in Boston sports history.
