This cap is made by New Era and is a size 7 1/8, correct for Gwynn at this time. The tagging inside the sweatband is consistent with the designs used in the 1991 by New Era. Gwynn’s number (19) is written underneath the brim. This cap matches the team and the year listed above, as well as other Gwynn game worn hats during this time period. Overall, this cap shows moderate wear. Tony Gwynn was a Hall of Fame baseball player who spent his entire 20-year career with the San Diego Padres. He was known for his incredible hitting ability, earning eight National League batting titles and finishing his career with a remarkable .338 batting average. Gwynn was also a 15-time All-Star, a five-time Gold Glove winner, and a member of the 3,000 hit club. Off the field, he was widely respected as a person of great character and a beloved ambassador for the sport. After his death in 2014, Gwynn was mourned by fans and players alike, and his legacy as one of the greatest hitters in baseball history remains secure. This hat is accompanied by an LOA from Dave Miedema.
