This treasured lot features a Thurman Munson c. 1977-1979 New York Yankees professional model bat exhibiting excellent overall use. Munson named the AL MVP in 1976 and was the cement that held the Yankees together. No other game used bats from this era are as sought after as a Munson, this presents a fantastic investment opportunity. The Captain’s Hillerich & Bradsby S44 model bat shows heavy use as evident by the fact that the bat is cracked and a portion of the handle is missing. The barrel shows several ball marks with stitch impressions. There are green bat rack paint streaks on its barrel and some checking from repeated ball contact is present. A prime candidate to be restored. Munson died tragically in 1979 and his collectibles are incredibly coveted by collectors. Rare opportunity to acquire a game bat from the prime of his career spanning 2 World Series Championships in 1977 and 1978. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from game used bat expert John Taube from PSA/DNA.
