This auction features a RARE vintage early career blonde Kirby Puckett c. 1986-89 Louisville Slugger signature model R206 model bat measuring 34.5 inches and weighing 32 ounces. The bat shows quality player use characteristics with ball and stitch marks as well as pine tar, bat rack marksand #34 written on the knob and barrel end in black marker. This bat can be traced to a single order of R206 cupped bats that was sent to Puckett on 4/22/1988. There are no other entries in the H&B shipping records of Puck ordering R206 cupped bats. Rare model, early career Puckett bats are highly coveted by collectors. Any time you can trace a bat to specific year and bat order it adds significantly to it's collectability. The 1988 season was statistically Kirby's best year of his career with a career high .359 batting average and career high 121 RBI to go along with 24 HRs and 109 Runs. Further adding to the significance of this particular Puck bat is the fact that he signed the barrel in blue marker. As those who tried will attest, Kirby rarely signed his game bats. The late Twins HOF center fielder was perhaps the most beloved athlete in Minnesota Sports history leading the Twins to World Series Titles in 1987 & 1991. Puck was a 10 time All Star and 6 time Gold Glove winner.
