Joe Frazier's personal collection of 16 vintage boxing magazines each of which has been individually signed by Emile Griffith. Emile was boxer from the U.S. Virgin Islands who became a World Champion in the welterweight, junior middleweight and middleweight classes. His best known contest was a 1962 title match with Benny Paret. At the weigh in, Paret infuriated Griffith, a bisexual man, by touching his buttocks and making homophobic remarks. Griffith won the bout by knockout; Paret never recovered consciousness and died in the hospital 10 days later. This collectible lot has impeccable provenance as it was sourced directly from Leslie Wolff who was Joe Frazier’s personal and business manager. These items were left to Mr. Wolff up Joe's passing and will surely make for a tremendous personal keepsake for the years to come.
