This lot features a Jeff Gordon commemorative coin set honoring his five years of championship. Jeff Gordon is a retired American race car driver who is widely regarded as one of the greatest NASCAR drivers of all time. He began his career in the Busch Series in 1990 and made his debut in the Cup Series in 1992. Gordon quickly made a name for himself, winning his first Cup Series race in 1994 and his first Cup Series championship in 1995 at the age of 24, becoming the youngest driver to win the championship at that time. Over the course of his career, Gordon won four Cup Series championships, 93 races, and over $150 million in prize money. He also won the Daytona 500 three times and the Brickyard 400 five times. Gordon's success on the track and his clean-cut image helped to bring NASCAR to mainstream popularity in the 1990s and 2000s. After retiring from racing in 2015, Gordon became an analyst for NASCAR on Fox Sports and has continued to be a prominent figure in the sport.
