This lot features a Harmon Killebrew 1953 Idaho State Semi-Pro Tournament Most Popular Player award. Before joining the Washington Senators in 1954, Killebrew was playing at a semi-professional level in Idaho and was batting an absurd .847, which helped him earn this award. He later went on to play 22 seasons in the MLB, all but one with the Senators/Twins and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1984. This trophy, one of the earliest if not the very earliest of his Hall of Fame career, was acquired from Harmon Killebrew by Yankee part owner Barry Halper who later sold it in his 2000 Southey’s auction to our consigner.
