Beautiful George Spencer 1951 New York Giants jersey exhibiting excellent overall use. George Spencer was the closer on the 1951 National League Championship team as he went 10-4 with 6 saves (led the team). The jersey has 8 eight team repairs and was eventually sent down to the St. Cloud Rox minor league team as was the norm for jerseys of that era but not until Spencer was done with it. The jersey has the MacGregor Goldsmith size 46 tag, the proper "Set 2 1951" sewn into the inner side seam as well as the "Spencer 30" player name and number swatch sewn into the collar. Our consignor actually took the time to track down Mr. Spencer and had the jersey signed by him. Beautiful jersey of the ace closer of the memorable 1951 New York Giants National League Championship team.
