This cap is made by Wilson and is a size 7 1/4. The jersey number (33) is written underneath the brim and the name (Cerv) is written on the inside of the dome part of the cap. The cap style matches the team and the year, as well as other examples of Cerv game worn hats during this time period. This cap exhibits moderate to heavy overall use. It's worth noting that the 1958 & 1959 seasons were two of Cerv's best hitting seasons. Accompanied by an LOA from Dave Miedema. Bob Cerv was a Major League Baseball player who played from 1951 to 1962 for the New York Yankees, Kansas City Athletics, Los Angeles Angels, and Houston Colt .45s. Cerv was primarily an outfielder and designated hitter who had a career batting average of .276, hitting 105 home runs and 374 RBI in 952 games. Cerv's best season came in 1958 with the Athletics when he hit .305 with 38 home runs and 104 RBI, earning him a third-place finish in the American League MVP voting. He was also a member of the 1958 American League All-Star team. Cerv passed away in 2017 at the age of 91.
